Our Own Fault

It has been said that human nature is to turn away from problems, but it is also true that modern human nature is to turn blame away from ourselves. Human beings are solely responsible for the fall of our environment and race. It is the easy thing for us to blame the rise of technology and ideology for these problems, and while it is in a very big way, we are the ones who created these so therefore we are the ones who create our own destruction.

Although the technology and wealth which we amass may seem to be important and helpful in our narrow human perspective, these things are the basis of power and therefore the most corruptive substances on the planet. It all starts with temptation. Kids are propagandized from an early age to want money, and things; and therefore power. Over time this mentality has spread to nearly every household and therefore nearly every child and further, throughout our race. The wish to amass earthly “things” has become the meaning of life for our plastic universe. But as stated before we cannot blame the ideas and monetarily based goods, for we are the ones that come up with these temptations. And worse still, we are the ones that succumb to it.

Isn’t it sad to think of the damage we have done already? Isn’t it scary to think of the havoc we have wrought, the instruments of terror, war and death we have created and even used? Isn’t it scary to know that because of our technology, we hold the power to destroy earth, and life? But on top of all that, isn’t it scariest to know that we are the ones who must fix it all?

So far I have been referring to the physical damage that we are orchestrating due to our many faults, but this is only the beginning of the problem. Much more important is the spiritual aspect of our moral defecations. More and more, every day of our lives, moral implications take a backseat in our lives. Our cultures have been brainwashed so much, that right and wrong is based government issued laws. We are beleaguered with the limitations we have put on our collective muse. We try so hard to fall in to the conformity of everyday life, and even those who think they are so “post-modern” or “non-conformist” are just conforming to the ideas of anti-society. We are so limited, that we try to make everyone “just like us.”

More and more humans turn away from nature and try to make things into a “new way.” But nature is nature for a reason; it is natural. Meaning that just because for an instant it seems like we can control fate, we are on a short leash that fights against us and in the end will destroy us if we keep fighting it. In case nobody has noticed, fighting nature hasn’t made anyone happy. In fact humans keep falling deeper and deeper into a sense of microscopy, which is why we keep making new things to try to make us happy. No one seems to realize that things are just getting worse. No one seems to realize that we aren’t doing anything but limiting ourselves. The Vedas say “Man has subjected himself to thousands of self-inflicted bondages. Peace comes to a man who lives by the true, eternal laws of nature.” If we were all to follow this idea, the world would be a happy, wholesome, collectively unified and peaceful place.
